((Considering it was 3am when I finished this last night, I’m still kind of surprised I’m as proud of it as I am.
ALSO have a second version with a bit more shading. I’m still not sure which one I prefer…))
Haunt Me: I’ll write a drabble about my character watching over yours [as a ghost, watching from a distance, or otherwise, feel free to specify.]
He didn’t remember much.
For instance, his death. It was foggy, to say the least, and every time he tried to focus on it, there was nothing but haze. It was frustrating, but…there was a sense of calm, of ease that came with the end of his life. He had struggled for so long to take the lives of others, and now…
His work was finally over.
And yet, still he remained. He had been told, as a boy, that departing the mortal world involved Arceus in some form, floating down from the sky, saying that everything had been forgiven, and escorting the departed to the next plane of existence.
Nothing came. In fact, aside from his new…abilities, little had changed for Luhre. It was true that many of his earthly attachments had dulled - he worried little for Drelia now that she had accepted his death - but many of the normalities of his life, such as Bardiel, remained steadfast even in the face of his death.
And the world had not stopped at his death.
The country was still wrapped in the chaos of war, with both princes killing off more and more of the populace with each passing day. It felt oddly amusing to watch from the sidelines - it was so petty and stupid, and yet, even Luhre had failed to truly see the pettiness of the whole thing.
He wandered the battlefield, completely immune to its horrors, as more and more men and women were torn apart. There were no familiar faces here, just random men and women from the Mages’ Guild.
For a moment, at least.
He’d never really known Mytho. He knew of the boy, but nothing much else. The boy (from what he’d heard, at least) had never been very good with monsters. A shame…the boy was young, and he probably could have made something of himself.
Mytho was not long for this world. Long slashes cut through his armor and into flesh, with the essence of his life slowly spilling onto the earth. His breaths were short, and his eyes widened in fear.
He knew his death was coming, and he knew it would come for him soon.
Luhre stayed, watching the boy slowly fade away. He wondered if his death had looked anything like Mytho’s. Again, he couldn’t remember his own passing…no matter.
It took longer than he’d expected. Mytho clung to life with every bit of power he had left.
Luhre watched over him the entire time.
Almost as if he were somehow paying the boy respect.
[[Cover Your Neck- Type B]]
Leda had no idea what to do.
Watching Luhre fight off that crazy bitch who’d tackled him in the middle of the night had been horrifying enough - the assassin had been unhinged since returning from his imprisonment with the Rangers. He’d torn her apart - literally - but that hadn’t stopped her from getting a few shots in.
She’d basically tackled him…it looked like she was biting him. Almost like she was trying to eat him.
Luhre stood, covered in the woman’s blood, and turned back to face Leda.
He’d only taken two steps towards her, but even in that short time, he’d gone from simply exhausted to almost dead. He slumped to the ground with a thud, and Leda rushed to his side.
"Luhre! What the hell-"
"No, you’re not! C’mon, we’ve got to get…"
He was heavy…for her, at least. She tried her best to get underneath him, to lift him up…
He wasn’t helping, and yet, she could feel his muscles flexing and moving underneath his clothes. What the hell is he doing?
"Don’t mess with-"
Faster than she could register, Luhre’s hand shot out and grabbed her around the wrist.
She stared as he slowly turned over and got to his feet. It was different - there was a certain smoothness to his movements, and yet…he wasn’t doing anything differently.
He looked like some sort of spirit.
"Luhre…what’s going on?"
The assassin clenched his hands a few times, almost as if he was unfamiliar with his own body, or if he was testing out something new. “I’m…not entirely sure, m’lady, but…”
He trailed off. Something was different…something was wrong.
His gaze, after a few moments of wandering aimlessly, finally settled on Leda.
He didn’t respond.
All he did…was smile.
This will always be my favorite post on Tumblr.
when godzilla gets angry
What was it that you were imprisoned for the first time? OR How did you escape from prison the first time?
"It was during one of my…interrogation sessions. The guards and policeman of Johto assumed that I had some underlying connection with other assassins or mercenaries. Completely false, but - to be perfectly honest - the guards would have tortured me regardless of whether or not I had any information to divulge."
He pauses for a moment, mulling something over in his mind.
"I don’t remember the first one’s name…something with a ‘c’, I believe.
Anyways, if you’ve ever seen a ‘rack’, then you know one’s hands must be bound at the wrists in order for the device to function properly. While this first guard was preparing the device, I…”
The man’s face twitches slightly, as if he were hiding something.
"After weeks of such treatment, the guards had become…overly confident. So, that day, as he was haphazardly loading my arms into the machine, I loosed his grip and gouged his eyes out with my thumbs."
"The others were dispatched…relatively easily. I had lost much of my strength during my time in prison, and broadswords were not easy to wield. It hardly matters, for in the end, I emerged from that dungeon alive, looted what remained of my belongings, and fled the country."
"I do apologize for being so blunt with the manner in which I escaped from Johto, but…there is a reason I do not discuss my past endeavors openly."
"I didn’t think you needed any help stealing my heart, love - for it’s already yours."
Luhre chuckles to himself. “I suppose, if I were to give a serious answer, independence and a headstrong nature are enough to impress me. Though…a firm, curvaceous body goes a long way, too.”
You don't take any shit >:V Which is awesome when some of the rest of us are being all wishy-washy XD Also Luhre is a badass and it's really nice to see a character who doesn't secretly have a heart of gold or something. I like the integrity of the character.
HOLY SHIT HOW DID I MISS THIS
Because no one knows my muse better than I do.
